Parties on the Plaza
What: The Downtown CID has partnered with presenting sponsor, Laclede Gas, to feature live entertainment, food and drink at the new outdoor concert series, Parties on the Plaza. The new FREE after work party will be held at the Old Post Office Plaza (8th & Locust) the 3rd Wednesday of each month, May through September from 5-8 pm. Downtown restaurants will be on hand to supply light hors d'oeuvres and small plates and prize packages will be given away each month at the event as well. The first concert is May 9th and will feature the music of American Idol Top 10 Finalist Nikko Smith.

Navy Band “Freedom” at Union Station!
What: To kick off the St. Louis Navy week (September 2 - 12), the Navy Band “Freedom” will get the crowd rocking at St. Louis Union Station with a three-hour blues performance.

A night at the ballpark with the Navy!
What: As part of the St. Louis Navy Week, and for the 52nd straight year, the “Cardinal Company” of Navy recruits from the St. Louis region will march through downtown to the ballpark for a special on-field enlistment ceremony. During the pregame ceremony, 60 uniformed Sailors will be manning the rails…er, bases…and a Navy Color Guard will present the colors!

Screwed Again

Jersey County Victorian Festival  
What: Enjoy this living history event, featuring a large Civil War Reenactment, Bluegrass music, tours of the Fulkerson Mansion, working artisans, crafts, antiques, collectibles and a variety of great food. International Crisis Aid's 5K Run/Walk
What: The 5K Run/Walk for Freedom benefits International Crisis Aid’s Safe Campaign. The Safe Campaign is ICA’s global response to help end sex trafficking both in the U.S. and around the world. ICA has been rescuing and rehabilitating victims of sex trafficking ages 4-21 since 2006. ICA currently operates 7 Safe Homes and has rescued 127 girls.

Navy Day at New Town
What: As part of St. Louis Navy Week, Navy Sailors will take over the New Town community in St. Charles for a full day of activities and presentations to educate the community about the Navy’s mission. Sailors will give “Any Day in the Navy” presentations from 3 -4 to provide a look at the various professions within the Navy, and the Navy Band Freedom will blow the crowd away from 7 - 9.

St Louis Navy League Annual Golf Tourney
What: As part of St. Louis Navy Week, the St. Louis Council of the Navy League of the United States will host their annual golf tournament at the Cardinal Creek Golf Course at Scott Air Force Base. The Navy Blue Angels will provide participating golfers with a special treat as they practice during the tournament in preparation for the weekend’s Airpower over the Midwest Air Show.

9/11 Boat Parade

Elsah Fall Quilt Retreat  
What: Gather in Elsah for the annual Fall Quilt Retreat. The retreat includes open sew and also an Elsah House Tour, Pottery Tour, meals catered by My Just Desserts (Three lunches & two dinners) and guest speaker presentation by Debra Henninger. Debra's book, Hobo Quilts, has historic photos and wonderful vignettes from letters written by hobos of the 1930s and people who fed hobos. Drawn & Quartered, now in 3D and HD
What: (St. Louis) Immediacy Theatre Project (ITP) invades a new venue as it continues its 2010 season with the Drawn and Quartered series. Each Drawn & Quartered offers 35 new 2 minute plays performed in an order chosen by the audience. The plays are written by a crack team of ITP ensemble members, and they abandon many conventional theatrical elements such as character, location and suspension of disbelief. In these plays, the ensemble members portray themselves, the audience is always acknowledged, and the plays always exist exactly where they are: in an art gallery in St. Louis.
